Our Connections in the Community

The Society is particularly interested in encouraging young people to enjoy and participate in live music and we share our annual Spirit of Christmas Concerts with pupils from many local schools.

Included in the concert are the presentations to the the Annual SWCS Carol Competition winners. This competition is open to all children from primary and secondary schools in two separate age groups..

Pathways in Tme was commissioned specifically with young people in mind. It was performed in March 2002 with children from four local primary and secondary schools. We are most grateful to Lloyds TSB who provided a grant for this commission. The rehearsals were great fun and the performance exhilarating!
In the 2003/2004 season we were joined by singers from the Cantate Youth Choir (Director Michael Kibblewhite) to perform John Rutter's Mass of the Children.
We hope to continue and develop our work with younger singers. If you have an interest in this aspect, please contact Carol Hunt at email youth@swchoral.co.uk
For other aspects of the Society's involvement in the community you may wish to contact either our Business or Publicity Managers at business@swchoral.co.uk or publicity@swchoral.co.uk.

Singing Days, open to singers of all ages,
are held annually.
Our invited guest directors bring a wealth of experience and insight to a range of choral styles. A day not to be missed!

Small choir concerts are given in
local churches and other venues
during the summer.
At Christmas our Carol Singing in aid of local charities at Audley End Station
warms the heart if not the feet.
(Time for a mince pie between the trains too!)
